Microgrid Workshop Series

Hybrid Nano/Microgrids: Physical and Economic Modelling and Analysis

Microgrids and distributed energy resources have moved from concept and testing to become a key part of our energy future. The ability to model an effective microgrid is in high demand. Whether you are tasked with initial assessment, nanogrid modeling for Tier 1 resiliency, full microgrid modeling for reliability and economic benefit, or you are an engineer wanting to enhance your skill set for this growing market, this workshop will be of great benefit to you. In 2020, thousands of customer sites stood ready for phase one modeling for nanogrids, creating a sense of urgency as resiliency, energy cost, innovation and market participation are rapidly accelerating.

This workshop series reviews the most current trends in laying an effective foundation for microgrid power and energy standards that becomes the roadmap to energy market participation. It is essential to achieving economic value and a return on investment.

Each 4-hour online training workshop will go step-by-step to introduce and review key topics.

The Microgrid Modeling 401 workshop will utilize actual modelling software and is designed to give participants a practical experience of building and analyzing a multi-tier microgrid model. The session will transfer knowledge from the first three workshops to actual work and understanding of microgrids. This Modelling Practicum is designed to provide participants with practical work experience. It will reinforce the learning from the first three workshops of learning by doing. The workshop will involve actual use of modelling software where participants can transfer their knowledge to actual work and understanding of the tiered approach to microgrids. Although not mandatory, it is highly recommended that lower level workshops be considered a prerequisite for this higher-level session.
