Energy leaders to convene in San Juan for Solar Power Puerto Rico this April

Solar Power Events, the team behind North America’s largest solar and energy storage events, Solar Power International and Energy Storage International, announced a partnership with Solar and Energy Storage Association of Puerto Rico (SESA-PR) to launch Solar Power Puerto Rico.

The two-day event will bring together industry professionals for industry-leading education and exhibitions to the Intercontinental San Juan from April 30 to May 1, 2019.

“Solar Power Puerto Rico is shaping up to be the biggest, most impactful energy conference,” said PJ Wilson, Founder and President, SESA-PR. “Top leaders from the solar and storage industry, policymakers, and key influencers are coming together to tackle the challenges necessary to transform Puerto Rico into a model of swift transition to a 100% clean energy paradigm.”

Rooftop solar systems have nearly doubled since Hurricane Maria in 2017 and today Puerto Rico is home to 278 megawatts (MW) of operating or soon-to-be operating solar capacity, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Solar Power Puerto Rico is slated to take a deeper dive into this growing market facing a demand of solar-storage systems. Energy leaders will also share their insights on the island’s new energy legislation targeted for 100% renewables by 2050, PREPA, and grid integration and modernization.

“Since the 2017 devastation, the response by our industry to support Puerto Rico’s disrupted energy system has been tremendous and key in developing a solution for the island’s vulnerable structure,” said Stephen Miner, President & CEO, Solar Energy Trade Shows. “By providing a platform for experts to convene and share the necessary training and education to build a thriving workforce that can build an improved infrastructure and influence public policy, we can help promote the lively growth of Puerto Rico.”

Alongside an agenda rich in top-notch education, Solar Power Puerto Rico will also offer attendees ample networking opportunities, much like the other regional shows in the Solar Power Events portfolio.

Registration is scheduled to open in February. For more details, visit www.re-plus.events/puertorico.
